What does a Kinsugi set contain?

Humade's kintsugi set is inspired by the ancient Japanese craft of kintsugi. The old and traditional technique is very advanced, but with this set it is possible for everyone to try their hand at the technique.

The set contains:

  • Two-component adhesive
  • Wax for filling larger holes
  • Gold or silver powder
  • Bamboo stick and paintbrush
  • Gloves
  • Step-by-step guide with detailed pictures

One set contains 5-10 repairs depending on the size. It can be used on almost all hard materials, e.g. glass, wood, marble, hard plastic and of course ceramic/stoneware/porcelain. We recommend washing repaired products by hand. Make sure to work in a ventilated environment or near an open window, as the glue can have a strong smell. Remember to read the enclosed manual carefully before use.

WABI SABI PHILOSOPHY

BEAUTY IN THE IMPERFECT

Kintsugi is a Japanese technique for repairing broken pottery, where the pieces are joined together with gold glue. It stems from the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, which is about seeing beauty in imperfection.

When the broken parts are put back together, it creates a whole that is more beautiful than it was before. Beauty is found in the defect rather than focusing on the fact that the pottery no longer appears in its original state. Flaws become a strength and part of its history.
